Program Officer
Women’s Rehabilitation Centre (WOREC) is a national-level NGO working for women’s human rights and empowerment through the protection and promotion of human rights and social justice. WOREC focuses on campaigns against violence against women and advocates for women’s economic, social, and cultural rights nationwide. Our operational districts with offices include Morang, Sunsari, Udayapur, Dhanusha, Mahottari, Sarlahi, Dang, Kailali, Rukum, Rupandehi, Kapilvastu, Kanchanpur, Jagarkot, Kathmandu, Bhaktapur, Kavrepalanchok, and Saptari. The Central Office is in Lalitpur.
Position: Program Officer
Duty Station: Central Office, Lalitpur, with frequent field visits
Job Summary:
The Program Officer (PO) will work closely with the Line Manager, Coordinators, and WOREC’s networks to achieve the program’s goals and objectives. The PO is responsible for ensuring quality interventions that uphold feminist values and managing the Right to Work and Mobility portfolio. The role includes guiding the Volunteer team, representing WOREC in networks and campaigns, and managing documentation and knowledge from a feminist perspective. The PO will liaise with stakeholders and advocate for women’s mobility rights.
Specific Responsibilities:
- Oversee the Human Rights and Social Justice Program, including issues related to refugees, migration, decent work, reintegration of returnee women migrant workers, and anti-trafficking programs.
- Support and supervise district program officers on safe migration and refugee rights.
- Prepare and report weekly, monthly, bi-monthly, and annual program implementation plans.
- Ensure effective implementation, documentation, and timely reporting of activities by Community Volunteers and counselors.
- Lead the field-based team, providing technical input on SGBV issues.
- Design and conduct staff capacity-building programs and provide technical support to community-based counseling centers.
- Organize training, advocacy campaigns, workshops, seminars, and interaction programs with national and international stakeholders.
- Maintain strong coordination with NGOs, government stakeholders, and networks on migration issues.
- Support the Kathmandu office team in establishing monitoring and evaluation systems.
- Document case management related to SGBV cases.
- Develop IEC materials, communication materials, and training content.
- Represent WOREC in forums on human rights, trafficking, women’s rights, and migrant workers’ rights.
- Produce and edit communication and advocacy materials.
- Coordinate with the central and district offices for information collection and program updates.
- Follow organizational policies, including Gender Equality, PSEAH, and Child Protection.
- Support all organizational programs as needed.
- Develop content for IEC materials, communication materials, and training and orientation materials with the support of program focal person. To ensure branding and visibility of the organization.
- Represent the organization in local, national and international forums to issues of Human rights, women Trafficking, Women Rights, migrant workers and their Rights.
- Produce, develop, and edit communication and advocacy materials, including press releases, newsletter, website content, social media content and human- interest stories, articles as per need.
- Coordinate with the database section of central office and district offices district coordinator for collect the information about program.
- Follow the organizational policies including Gender Equality, PSEAH, Child Protection and practices in order to ensure the assertive and safe working environment.
- Support to all programs of organization as per need.
