Dimensions of the Role: This internship offers a unique learning opportunity within the Monitoring, Evaluation, Research, and Learning (MERL) Department at Plan International Nepal. The selected candidate will gain exposure to various aspects of the department’s functions, including data collection, analysis, documentation, and knowledge management.

Description:

Purpose of the Internship: The intern will assist the MERL team in tools development, information/data collection, basic analysis, and report writing.

Support in MERL Initiatives:

  • Assist in tools development, information/data collection, basic analysis, and report writing.

Assisting in MERL Administration:

  • Support in data/document management.
  • Assist in required documentation (e.g., reports of PDM, Quarterly Narrative report).

Capacity Building:

  • Support in training Social Mobilizers and enumerators for data collection in app-based surveys.

General Tasks:

  • Assist in tracking data inconsistencies.
  • Handle feedback (toll-free number) and maintain log records.
  • Support program staff in archiving documents in the Data Archiving System.
  • Coordinate and collaborate with staff for follow-ups on documents and surveys.
  • Translate documents as necessary.

Duration, Duty Station, and Travel:

  • The internship will be for 12 months.
  • The intern will be based in the Country Office with regular travel to the field for data collection.

Minimum Requirement:

  • Fresh graduates with a degree in Public Health, Social Work, Rural Development, Sociology, or other social sciences.
  • IT skills: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.
  • Knowledge of analytical systems would be an advantage.
  • Report writing and documentation skills in English and Nepali.
  • Understanding of the development sector, its operating environment, and regulatory landscape.
  • Understanding of socio/political economic and cultural issues in Nepal.
  • Innovative and creative thinking with problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage work relationships, coordinate, and network.
  • Ability to prioritize and multitask when dealing with competing deadlines.

Reporting: The intern will report to the REKM Specialist based in the Country Office.
