MinErgy Pvt Ltd (MinErgy) is a Nepal-based consulting firm dedicated to improving clean energy access and energy efficiency at households and industries since 2008. In collaboration with Universität Innsbruck, Austria, Greentech Knowledge Solutions Pvt Ltd (GKSPL), India, and Asociación Española de Normalización (UNE), Spain, MinErgy is implementing the four-year project BUILDING Energy Efficiency in Nepal (BEEN). The project, funded by the European Union under the SWITCH-Asia Programme, aims to contribute to low-carbon and resource-efficiency in the Nepalese building sector.

MinErgy invites applications for the position of Project Engineer/Architect for the BEEN project.

Position: Project Engineer/Architect Project: BUILDING Energy Efficiency in Nepal (BEEN) Duty Station: Kathmandu, Nepal Reports to: Senior Architect Expected Date of Joining: 1st February 2024

Job Summary: The Project Engineer/Architect will be responsible for designing and executing capacity-building activities, conducting building simulation work, and carrying out building performance monitoring. The role involves supporting the development of training packages, providing technical support for the integration of energy efficiency (EE) and renewable energy (RE) measures in buildings, and assisting in the development of innovative marketing strategies to promote EE and RE in buildings.

Responsibilities:

  1. Identify buildings for showcasing, performance monitoring, and integration of EE and RE measures.
  2. Provide technical support for EE and RE measures in the design and retrofitting of buildings.
  3. Support in organizing design charrettes and intensive design workshops.
  4. Participate in the performance monitoring of buildings.
  5. Organize training programs for building MSMEs and other stakeholders.
  6. Assist in the design, development, and installation of efficient HVAC systems and renewable energy technologies.
  7. Support in the promotion and dissemination of energy-efficient building designs.
  8. Represent the project at conferences, round-tables, committees, or working groups.
  9. Assist in preparing information leaflets, brochures, and other marketing materials.
  10. Support in the development of standards for resource-efficient building materials and contribute to the formulation of policies for integrating energy efficiency into building regulations.
  11. Assist in developing manuals, guidelines, case studies, reports, etc., for energy-efficient building design and resource-efficient materials.

Minimum Requirement:

  • Education: Minimum Bachelor’s degree in engineering (preferably in energy/mechanical/civil) or Architecture.
  • Experience: Minimum 4 years with experience in EE building design.
  • Understanding of building physics.
  • Knowledge of building energy simulation software.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Project or equivalent.

  • Experience in conducting energy audits.
  • Experience with renewable energy systems and software like RETScreen.
  • Basic understanding of the performance of building materials and HVAC systems.
  • Qualified female candidates and candidates from ethnic minorities, socially excluded, and disadvantaged groups are encouraged to apply.
