ICT Officer
Job Location: Kathmandu
Summary of Job Purpose: This position will oversee all aspects of country office’s information systems, working the global IS staff to ensure network administration, hardware and application management, security, user support and administrative functions. S/he will require a broad set of technical, planning, problem solving and hands on support skills and the ability to work effectively in our low resource settings that present significant infrastructure challenges and the ability to communicate and collaborate in multicultural environment.
Essential Roles and Responsibilities
Technical Support
- Work as a team member to ensure Helen Keller Intl Information and communication technology activities are operational, secure, and stable by providing regular desktop support to operations, programs, and partner staff, as necessary.
- Provide and support information system components (like software applications, hardware, inter/intranet, web portals/content management systems, SharePoint/KellerNet, Microsoft 365 and OneDrive for Business) used in Helen Keller Intl Nepal offices.
- Ensure ICT hardware is properly installed, and their routine maintenance is carried; event tracking and monitoring are in place according to the global information System standards.
- Coordinates IT procurements (hardware, software, and services) to ensure effective deployment of solutions aligned with user needs.
Capacity building and Technical Documentation
- Capacitate organization staff with ICT-based work productivity for smooth operation of day-to-day activities.
- · Prepare, compile, and evaluate reports on staff email, software applications, backup status, connectivity, and usage of organization ICT resources, and collaborate to achieve IS goals.
Network Infrastructure Management and Monitoring
- Ensure the operation of internal office network (Intranet), Internet, server systems, routers, access points, network switches and all in-house network peripherals.
- Ensure operability of network connectivity in offices including those in the districts and other relevant stakeholders including partner organization where required.
Information Systems Security and Monitoring
- Regularly monitor the system performances and report to the upper level as required.
- Apply security fixes, patch, and ensure systems are up to date.
- Follow global guidance on organizing and storing data for secure backups.
- Configuration and installation of Windows and Linux servers.
PC and Application Management
- Perform PC configurations, per Helen Keller IS Standards
- Perform application installation, configuration, testing and upgrade tasks
- Support and engage in development, enhancement and operation of applications and systems used in the Helen Keller network.
Team Participation
- Actively participate in monthly and scheduled calls with the Regional and Global IS team
- Participate in regional or global-level working groups when assigned
Special IS Projects
- Respond to special requests and/or projects related to improving the functionality and security of Helen Keller Intl’s Information Systems.
Educational qualifications and experiences: Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Informational technology with 5 years of proven experience as IT Officer with excellent knowledge of technical management, information analysis, computer hardware and software system and data centered management and governance.
