Bheri Environmental Excellence Group Job Vacancy for Technical Coordinator:

Bheri Environmental Excellence Group (BEE-Group) is an autonomous, independent, non-partisan, nonprofit making independent, non-governmental organization (NGO). It was established in 2000 AD, registered in the District Administration Office, Banke, and affiliated with the Social Welfare Council, Nepal. It is serving in the Lumbini, Karnali and Sudurpaschim Province of Nepal for the protection and promotion of human rights, environmental conservation, climate change adaptation, disaster risk reduction, building access to quality education health and WASH services, sustainable livelihoods, and community development. Since it is working on the rights-based approach to issues such as social justice, peace, human rights, environment conservation, sustainable livelihoods, and community development. It works to attain peace, development, and justice through peoples’ meaningful participation and a bottom-up approach to establishing an equitable, healthy, and self-reliant society by building a trustworthy reputation.

BEE-Group is implementing Telethon- Child, Not Bride Project in partnership with Plan International Nepal in Geruwa Rural Municipality, Thakurbaba Municipality, Madhuban Municipality and Barabardiya Municipality of Bardiya District from January 2022 to December 2025. The project aims to strengthen the system for preventing child early and forced marriages. BEE-Group is seeking qualified experienced, self-motivated following staff members for the above mentioned project.

Position: Technical Coordinator (SBCC and Child Protection)– 1
Duty Station: Based at field office Gulariya, Bardiya with 75% field travel  
Job Summary:

The Technical Coordinator (SBCC and Child Protection) will be overall responsible for developing SBCC strategies, building the child protection system and strengthening the capacity of stakeholders and will work closely with the municipal level child rights committee, Civil society Networks, religious group networks, media workers and provide support to them in formulation of the required policies, planning and implementation of activities as well as developing and disseminating appropriate information related to child protection to contribute  preventing the child early and forced marriage.

The Technical Coordinator plays a vital role in specific project strategies and activities to achieve the objectives stated in the project document inconsistent with the strategic direction of BEE-Group, Banke thereby making a major contribution to the development and articulation of organization’s objectives.

Description

Key Tasks and Responsibility:
Project Activity Implementation:

  • Lead and facilitate the delivery of the project activities and outputs in the areas of Social Behavior Change Communication and Child Protection to end child early and forced marriage (CEFM) in four municipalities of Bardiya district.
  • Implementation of the project activities and outputs, including monitoring, evaluation, learning and reporting specially for SBCC and child protection of youth girls.
  • Ensure that the adequate understanding of the project plan and approaches by staff and stakeholders and provide necessary technical guidance to them for Changing discriminatory social norms and improved Child Protection and youth participation related Policies and implementation that affect CEFM. 
  • Organize and participate in project events, such as workshops, fairs, forums, and meetings, to promote the project objectives and outcomes.
  • Assist the Project Manager in executing project activities in targeted locations, developing strategies, and ensuring the safeguarding of children and vulnerable groups during project activities.

Coordination, Liaison, communication and representation:

  • Coordinate with project manager, thematic leads, and field team to youths and adolescent mobilization and requirements for the project.
  • Work closely with the local government, child right committee and civil society organizations and ensure that the highest level of coordination for smooth implementation of project interventions and declaring child marriage free zones.
  • Collaborating with the Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability, and Learning (MEAL) team on field surveys, risk register reports, and identifying needs and gaps in interventions.
  • Coordinate and collaborate with relevant stakeholders, (government agencies, civil society organizations, media, private sector and other development partners) to promote the project objectives and outcomes. 
  • Regular communication with CRCs, CSOs for planning, involvement, case handling, advocacy and required support from the project and local governments.

Training, capacity building, and advocacy:

  • Facilitate monthly meetings of Child Right Committees, Civil Society Organizations, facilitate to develop their action plan to prevent child early and forced marriages and follow up with them to ensure that they have implemented the action plan. 
  • Capacitate the Child Rights Committee on Case management process and facilitate them to lobby with the local government to ensure the availability of enough resources to respond the cases.
  • Carry out stakeholders’ analysis and develop a well set of referral mechanism to provide necessary support to the children when needed.
  • Establish a system of regular collection of marriage data through CSO or CRC, update it and analyze it periodically and share the status report to the local government as the evidence for advocacy.
  • Support and facilitate the field team for collecting the project progress, challenges and opportunities and report to the partner organization regularly.

Documentation, dissemination, and reporting:

  • Support to the finance officer and ensure proper management of financial transactions referring to the compliances. 
  • Support to the MERL & communication officer in documentation, branding, generation of appropriate knowledge product as per the project plan and reporting to the Project Manager and donor agency according to the agreed standards and timely manner.
  • Document the best practices, lessons learned and collection of case studies and share with the Project Manager and the organization.
  • Prepare monthly and periodic progress reports about the field activities and share them with the Project Manager.
  • Support and play the role for establishing the congenial reflective learning environment within a project team, organization and functionalization of effective teamwork.   
  • Generate progress and project reports after implementing activities as per the RFW.Prepare/finalize learning reports and disseminate them to the Line manager, concerned organizations and stakeholders.
  • Support and facilitate field visits by concerned government agencies, Plan International Nepal and donor for monitoring purpose.
  • Do other necessary works as suggest by the Project Manager and Executive Director.

Competencies and personal specification:

  • Knowledge of social behavior change communication (SBCC) strategies and child protection frameworks, with a focus on gender issues and child rights.
  • Ability to design, implement, and monitor child protection programs, including experience with project planning and evaluation.
  • Strong communication skills for advocacy work, including the ability to engage communities and stakeholders in dialogue and action against child marriage.
  • Leadership qualities to guide and motivate teams, and coordinate with various stakeholders, including government and non-governmental organizations.
  • Understanding of the local context and cultural dynamics in Nepal that contribute to child marriage, and the ability to work respectfully within these parameters.
  • Capacity to analyze data and trends related to child marriage and use this information to inform program strategies and interventions.
  • Ability to identify challenges and barriers to program implementation and develop innovative solutions.
  • Flexibility to adapt strategies and approaches in response to changing circumstances and feedback from the community and stakeholders.
  • Proven experiences in working with diverse community, cultures and ability to cope stress and decision making with appropriate communication. 
  • Proficiency in communication in English and Nepali, both written and spoken.
  • Ability to use Microsoft Office and other relevant software and tools.

Education and Experience:

  • A bachelor’s degree or higher in social science, rural development or a related field.
  • At least three years of Relevant experience is crucial, with a preference for candidates who have worked in child protection, social behavior change communication (SBCC), or related fields.
  • The candidate should be well familiar and committed to promoting and protecting child rights, women rights and preventing child early and forced marriage. 
  • The candidate must have a valid motorbike/scooter license and be willing to travel in the community frequently.
