Finance and Administration Officer 1

The position of Finance & Administration Officer is open at Corus International, which incorporates Lutheran World Relief in Nepal. They are looking to hire qualified and experienced candidates for an anticipated U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Food For Progress project in Nepal. This project aims to enhance food security by improving the aquaculture value chain through the integration of climate-smart technologies, strengthening market linkages, increasing farmer incomes, expanding access to finance, and supporting the public and private sectors.

As a Finance & Administration Officer (FAO) reporting to the Senior Finance & Administration Manager, your responsibilities will cover various financial and administrative aspects of the USDA project. These include managing financial records, procurement, vehicle management, front desk operations, and other essential financial functions.

Your roles and responsibilities will encompass:

  1. Maintaining a comprehensive filing system, both in hard copy and electronic formats, to store essential documentation such as payment and receipt vouchers, payroll records, tax-related documents, and bank statements with reconciliations.
  2. Entering financial transactions into QuickBooks for accurate record-keeping.
  3. Completing and documenting bank reconciliations to ensure financial accuracy.
  4. Collaborating with the team to prepare monthly cash advance requests for office operations.
  5. Assisting the Senior Finance & Admin Manager in preparing and submitting financial reports to the headquarters.
  6. Managing payroll processes and making payments following appropriate review and approval procedures.
  7. Handling tax filings, including withholding taxes and returns.
  8. Assisting in audit exercises to ensure compliance and accuracy.
  9. Reviewing advance requests and reconciling advance expenses reports to maintain financial precision.
  10. Tracking the repayment of advances and enforcing relevant policies for reconciling advances.
  11. Collecting cost estimates and overseeing the call for bids for procurement processes.
  12. Coordinating cost and proposal evaluations for various project activities.
  13. Implementing the contractual terms related to orders, goods receipt, service completion confirmation, and payments.
  14. Assisting with the logistics of events, workshops, and travel arrangements for staff and consultants.
  15. Supervising project staff and maintaining an inventory of assets at the Bara office.

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • A degree in finance, accounting, business management, or a relevant field from an accredited institution, along with ACCA/CPA Nepal certification.
  • A minimum of three years of experience in finance, purchasing and supply management, administration, and logistics.
  • Proficiency in relevant computer applications and databases, with expertise in Excel spreadsheets. Knowledge of QuickBooks or similar accounting software is preferred.
  • Familiarity with the tax regulations and reporting requirements of the country.
  • Demonstrated ability to apply generally accepted accounting practices.
  • Proficiency in both Nepali and English for effective communication.
