Save the Children is looking for an Internal Control and Compliance Manager to join their team in Nepal. The role involves ensuring internal control and compliance within the organization and conducting reviews, investigations, and assessments. Here are the key responsibilities and qualifications for this position:
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct operational, financial, and compliance checks to assess the effectiveness of internal controls and risk management systems.
- Determine compliance with policies, procedures, regulations, and donor requirements and provide recommendations to enhance control systems.
- Develop an annual Internal Control and Compliance (ICC) work plan based on risk assessment.
- Execute control and compliance checks as per the annual plan, including departments, local NGOs, field offices, and Bhutan office.
- Apply risk-based audit techniques when performing ICC for various units.
- Monitor follow-up activities using an automated system and support budget holders in closing any issues.
- Evaluate policies and procedures and make recommendations for improvements.
- Review Save the Children policies and procedures compliance.
- Conduct reviews with a zero-tolerance policy perspective, such as safeguarding and fraud, bribery, and corruption.
- Provide expert advisory services to partners and the Country Office.
- Maintain ethical principles of auditing, including confidentiality, integrity, objectivity, and professionalism.
- Provide suggestions for improving the internal control and compliance reviews strategy and methodology.
- Assist in Fraud Risk Assessment and other assignments as assigned.
- Conduct or assist in training and workshops related to fraud, bribery, and corruption policy orientation.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Chartered Accountant (CA) with 7 years of work experience, including 5 years in audit. (5 years for GSI group*)
- Experience in conducting risk-based reviews, identifying weaknesses, and areas for improvement.
- Strong attention to detail and a logical, disciplined work approach.
- Effective written communication skills in English, including high-quality report writing.
- Strong communication skills to articulate findings at all levels.
- Willingness to travel extensively.
- High standards of ethics and integrity.
- Knowledge of national and international accounting and auditing standards, regulations, and development sector.
*Note: GSI group qualification requirement may differ.
This is a fixed-term position located at the Country Office in Kathmandu, Nepal.
