Job Description (Roles and Responsibilities)
Main Purpose of Job:
To carry out effective day-to-day maintenance work, routine maintenance, preventive maintenance, breakdown maintenance, new installation, and construction works.
We reserve the right to review, revise, or amend the roles and responsibilities from time to time reflecting the changing needs of business.
Roles and Responsibilities:
Regular Works (60%):
- Lead the team to perform maintenance service request tasks regularly to support the mission’s operations.
- Ensure the planned preventive maintenance (PPM) tasks are completed as per the yearly planner.
- Follow FCDO health & safety standards in regular works.
- Lead ad hoc tasks delegated by the Technical Works Supervisor (TWS) and provide progress updates.
- Undertake documentation of PCA, GPSS, etc., as per FCDO requirements and guidelines.
- Support TWS in report preparation, document verifications, or external ground works.
- Develop a good understanding and ability to follow all related health & safety standards, including but not limited to electrical safety, fire safety, height safety, and confined space safety.
- Report to the Supervisor after completing assigned works.
- Lead the installation and testing of electrical equipment, including PAT and installation tests.
- Oversee the installation of air conditioners, freezers, and other electrical appliances.
- Conduct wiring, cabling, and installation of electrical panels, telephones, networking, firefighting equipment, and detectors.
- Lead the installation of new machines, gen-sets, lighting, and power systems.
- Support TWS in scoping out projects by collecting data and estimating new electrical installation works and ad-hoc projects.
- Assist in the installation of air conditioners and home appliances.
- Help other tradespersons, such as civil technicians, plumbers, painters, masons, and carpenters, with their tasks.
- Install fire safety equipment and home appliances.
- Report to the Supervisor after completing new installation works.
Schedule/Preventive Maintenance Works (30%):
- Conduct routine inspections, preventive maintenance, and breakdown maintenance of electrical appliances and equipment, air conditioning units, solar panels, water heaters, and generator sets.
- Perform routine tests and inspections of fire safety equipment as per fire safety code.
- Carry out routine inspection, cleaning, and preventive maintenance of lighting systems, emergency lights, and CCTV.
- Maintain and inspect tools and lifting equipment.
- Follow the FCDO Health and Safety Policy.
- Conduct routine inspection, cleaning, and preventive maintenance of workshop electrical tools and equipment.
- Assist in completing planned preventive maintenance (PPM) works and meeting deadlines as per the PPM calendar.
- Prepare reports on the work and assist colleagues with the same.
Miscellaneous Works (10%):
- Operate generators, filtration plants, and swimming pool systems during weekend duty.
- Support setting up AV systems for meetings and events.
- Ensure contractors and others follow H&S policies and standards related to electrical safety during events and preparations.
- Perform on-call responsibilities on a rota basis.
- Keep and clean tools and machines after use.
- Develop skills in all trades to meet the mission’s multi-tasking policies.
- Take responsibility for the maintenance stores and procurement as needed.
Learning and Development Opportunities:
- Participate in L&D activities as per FCDO requirements.
Working Patterns:
- Must be able to work on-call during weekends if requested.
Essential Qualifications, Skills, and Experience
- Academic Requirement: SEE/SLC Passed
- Professional Requirement: Minimum TSLC or Level 2 in electrical works
- Experience: Minimum of 3 years working experience in a relevant field
- Driving License: Must have a 2-wheel vehicle driving license
- Technical Skills: Must have knowledge of MS Word, MS Excel, and MS Outlook
- Language Requirements: Must be able to read, write, and communicate in English and Nepali
Desirable Qualifications, Skills, and Experience
- Working experience in the industrial/hospitality sector is preferred.
- 4-wheel vehicle driving license.
- Basic knowledge of telephone, IT, masonry, electrical, plumbing, and generator systems.
