Corus International, in partnership with Lutheran World Relief in Nepal, is currently seeking to hire qualified and experienced candidates for an upcoming project funded by the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Food For Progress initiative. This project aims to enhance food security by improving the aquaculture value chain, incorporating climate-smart technologies, strengthening market linkages, increasing income for farmers, expanding access to agricultural finance, and bolstering both the public and private sectors.

Position: Gender Equity and Social Inclusion (GESI) Specialist
Reporting To: Institutional Capacity Building Lead

Responsibilities:

  1. Lead the development and execution of a gender equality and social inclusion study, based on evidence, and create an action plan for the project.
  2. Contribute to shaping the project’s technical approach, crafting annual work plans, and executing a range of activities that align with project objectives, specifically focusing on expanding economic opportunities and services for women, youth, and marginalized populations.
  3. Research and document policies and other factors that contribute to the exclusion of women and other marginalized groups within the project area, designing strategies to overcome these barriers through project interventions.
  4. Review project reports, work plans, monitoring frameworks, and other documentation, offering suggestions to enhance the inclusivity of the project from a gender and social integration perspective.
  5. Provide technical guidance to project leadership and senior management in customizing project activities to maximize the participation and benefits of women, youth, and marginalized populations.
  6. Collaborate with the project’s Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) team to propose relevant indicators and contribute to the data collection and analysis process for monitoring, learning, and reporting, with a focus on adopting a transformative approach to GESI.
  7. Ensure that project activities and outcomes are delivered on time and within the approved budget.
  8. Advocate for the significance of GESI activities and considerations among the project team, partners, stakeholders, and provide on-the-job technical support.
  9. Work closely with local organizations that serve and are led by women, youth, and other marginalized populations.
  10. Develop and conduct training programs on fundamental gender equality and social inclusion concepts for project staff, partners, stakeholders, and participants, as required.
  11. Monitor and ensure that gender and social inclusion targets are effectively integrated into the project.
  12. Engage in relevant clusters, forums, and networks at the national and provincial levels, focusing on gender and social inclusion.
  13. Serve as the safeguarding focal point for the project team.

Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in gender and youth development studies, economics, agriculture, or a related social sciences field is required, while a master’s degree in a similar field is preferred.
  • Profound knowledge of gender equality and social inclusion concepts within the context of Nepal.
  • Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in promoting the engagement of marginalized groups (e.g., women, youth, Persons with Disabilities) in projects, preferably within the agriculture sector.
  • Proven track record in identifying opportunities and obstacles related to increasing income and economic opportunities for women, youth, and marginalized populations.
  • Experience in conducting gender and inclusion analyses and devising relevant strategies and training programs.
  • Strong commitment to LWR’s core values and the ability to exemplify these values in interactions with colleagues and partners.
  • Proficiency in English and Nepali languages is essential for this position.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.

This position will be based in the Bara District, with regular travel required.
